MORANG, Oct 28: One pedestrian was killed in a road accident in front of Biratnagar-4 Oil Corporation on Koshi Highway. Seven others were injured in the accident on Wednesday evening, according to Morang Police.
Ramesh Kumar Pandey, 60, of Halesi Tol in Biratnagar-3, who was injured in a car crash, died at Koshi Hospital on Wednesday evening while undergoing treatment. The injured have been identified as the car driver Dilip Kumar Yadav of Saptari Rajbiraj and Bramdev Yadav, Giriraj Chaudhary and Sunita Yadav, who were inside the car.
One killed in pick-up accident
Similarly, Bhoj Raj Kafle, 65, of Khandbari-1 of Sankhuwasabha, Meena Bhandari, 35, of Sunbarshi Municipality-2 of Morang and her 6-year-old son Prayas Bhandari were injured. “The injured are undergoing treatment at Nobel Medical College and Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar. Their health condition is normal,” police said.
The accident took place when the car (Province 3-01-023) heading towards Itahari from Biratnagar overtook a truck (Province No. 2-03-001-Kha 1771) heading in the same direction. The car overtook the truck and crashed into a divider on the road. Four people who were crossing the road were injured when the divider flew towards them.
A Nepal Army vehicle (Ba 2 Jha 3265) heading towards Biratnagar from Itahari was also damaged in the accident. According to Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Deepak Shrestha, the accident took place when the car overtook. The driver of the car is undergoing treatment for injuries while the driver of the army vehicle and the driver of the truck have been arrested and further investigation is underway, police said.
