Nepal administered Covishield vaccine to 429,705 people in first phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive
KATHMANDU, Feb 25: More than 429,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Nepal.
According to a press statement of the Ministry of Health and Population, as many as 429,705 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the first phase.

Frontline workers including health workers, sanitization workers and journalists were inoculated in the first phase.
Nepal had received a grant of one million doses of Covishield from the Indian government.
The vaccination drive had begun from January 27.
The first phase of the vaccination drive was conducted in two rounds, first from January 27 to February 6, and second from February 14 to 22.
The Ministry had targeted 507,606 persons in the first phase. However, the health ministry was successful in administering vaccines to only 429,000 persons. This covers 1.4 percent of the total population.
Meanwhile, a fresh consignment of additional 1 million doses of Covishield has arrived from India.
The government is soon to begin the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination campaign targeting the elderly groups.
