SIMKIOT, Dec 15: Children of the 12-17 age group are to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Humla district. Moderna vaccines will be administered to 9,621 children of that age group.

The first dose of the vaccine will be administered through 100 vaccination centers set up in seven rural municipalities of the district from December 19 to 29, chief of the Health Service Office, Prem Bahadur Singh said.

According to him, health workers will be mobilized soon along with the vaccines for this purpose. The women health volunteers in the villages are also to be mobilized.

The second dose of this vaccine will be administered from January 16 to 26 at the vaccination centers.

However, the children in wards 4, 5 and 6 of Namkha Rural Municipality are not to be given the jabs as it would be impossible for the health workers to travel to these areas along with the vaccines due to snowfall. Children in these wards will be vaccinated after winter is over, the health office said.
