KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Six people were killed when a passenger jeep heading from Kathmandu to Jhapa veered 500 meters off the road into a pond due to overspeeding, SP Chakra Bahadur Singh, SP and chief of District Police Office, Dhanusha said.
The Tata Sumo, Ba 9 Cha 3314 skidded off near Kamala bridge of Ganeshman Charthan municipality, Dhanusha at 2:30 AM.

Those deceased have been identified as Nawaraj Jimi, 29 of Dharmadevi municipality-9, Sankhuwasabha, Khem Kumar Ranamagar, 40 , Pralad Neupane, 33 and Sarada Regmi Dahal, 35 of Morang, Pranita Rai, 31 of Panchthar and Gyan Bahadur Chauhan, 27 of Khotang.
Four other passengers, including the driver, Sanjib Prasad Kharel, 28, sustained injuries while Chatra Bahadur Jimi, 22 of Dharmadevi-9, Sankhuwasabha sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment at Janakpur Regional Hospital.
Those injured have been identified as Rohit Dahal, 47 husband of deceased Sarada Dahal, Khil Bahadur Magar, 47 of Morang, Ranbahadur Majhi, 32 of Jhapa. All the passengers had hired reserved a jeep after their flights got cancelled due to bad weather on Friday.
