PAC directs PPMO to investigate irregularities in wide body aircraft purchase

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament on Wednesday directed the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) to investigate the alleged ‘misuse’ of fund in the procurement of wide body aircraft and submit a report about it within a week.

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament on Wednesday directed the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) to investigate the alleged ‘misuse’ of fund in the procurement of wide body aircraft and submit a report about it within a week.


Summoning Director Ram Chandra Sharma and Secretary Madhu Prasad Regmi of the PPMO in a meeting, the parliament’s committee directed them to investigate the case in accordance with Public Procurement Act and submit the report.


Ghimire, in the meeting, said that the government would get the commission if the procurement deal were made directly with the company. It is learnt that the recently purchased wide body aircraft had flown for 1000 hours before being brought to Kathmandu.

He said he would submit the report within a week.


In a meetig held earlier, PAC Chairman Bharat Kumar Shah had alleged that there had been an embezzlement of Rs 6.29 billion in the purchase of wide body aircraft.
