KATHMANDU, Jan 2: A parliamentary subcommittee probing the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft purchase scam has implicated three ministers including incumbent tourism minister Rabindra Adhikari. The subcommittee of the Public Accounts Committee led by Rajendra KC concluded that the ministers were the main responsible for the scam in which Rs 4 billion was embezzled. KC said the subcommittee has recommended action against three ministers including Adhikari and former ministers Jitendra Narayan Dev and Jiban Bahadur Shahi.

“The subcommittee has also concluded that the tourism secretaries including incumbent Krishna Prasad Devkota were also involved in the corruption as the chairs of the NAC board,” a source at PAC claimed. The other secretaries implicated in the report are Prem Rai, who is now home secretary, while Shankar Prasad Adhikari has already retired. Likewise, the committee has also recommended action against NAC’s Sugat Ratna Kansakar and Madan Kharel and all board members of the NAC board.
