Pakistan's scholarship quota for Nepali students doubled

KATHMANDU, APRIL 10- The Pakistani Embassy has doubled the scholarship quota being allocated for Nepali students at the local level. The decision follows the announcement of increasing Pakistan's scholarship quota for Nepali students made during Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's recent official visit to Nepal.

KATHMANDU, APRIL 10- The Pakistani Embassy has doubled the scholarship quota being allocated for Nepali students at the local level. The decision follows the announcement of increasing Pakistan's scholarship quota for Nepali students made during Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's recent official visit to Nepal.


The Pakistan's scholarship scheme has been in force in Nepal since the past five years. It is provided to students of primary, secondary and higher secondary level on merit basis.

The Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu provided scholarship amount to the entitled Nepali students (for the sixth year) amidst a programme here today.


Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Khagraj Baral, Pakistani Ambassador for Nepal, Mazhar Javed, and chair of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association, Himalaya Shamser JB Rana jointly presented the scholarship amount to 250 students from community and some private schools in 40 districts in the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley. They received Rs 10,000 each.


On the occasion, Secretary Baral expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for its continuous support to Nepal's human resources development and production of technical human resources.


Ambassador Javed was of the view that the scholarship scheme remained as one the means for further consolidating Nepal-Pakistan bilateral ties. The decision regarding the increment in scholarship quota shall be implemented from the upcoming year.(RSS)
