PALPA, June 1: Palpa district has reported its first case of the novel coronavirus disease. Three persons who recently returned from India were diagnosed with this viral infection.
A 19-year-old male from Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-8, Bahadurpur and two males (aged 38 and 40) from Rainadevi Chhahara Rural Municipality tested positive for this virus at the Bhairahawa-based Provincial Public Health Laboratory.

According to Ram Bahadur Karki, chairman of Rainadevi Chhahara Rural Municipality, the infected duo from ward 7 and 8 returned to the village from India earlier on May 21 and 22. Their swab samples were collected from the Tansen-based Hodling quarantine. “We have already started contact tracing,” said Bishwa Nath Neupane, acting chief at District Health Office, Palpa.
They were also taken to the isolation ward at United Mission Hospital in Tansen on Sunday evening itself, according to Dr Jagadish Kunwar, Medical Superintendent at District Hospital, Palpa. “Patient of Mathagadhi will be brought today,” said Dr Kunwar.
