Minister Mahaseth took the decision 10 days after four people died in a boat accident in Lalbakiya River. One is still missing.

Local people argue that the accident wouldn’t have happened had Pappu Construction built bridge over the river within the given timeframe. They have also filed complaints against Pappu Construction. The company has been blamed for the tragic incident.

News of non-performance of development projects, mostly of bridges, by contractors are coming from different parts of the country after complaints were registered against Pappu Construction.

“After the Lalbakaiya event and similar delays in project execution, the government has formed the panel to look into construction contracts held by Pappu Construction. It has been mandated to examine all the contracts held by Pappu Construction and submit its report within 10 days,” Rajendra Raj Sharma, the spokesperson for the ministry, told Republica.

Lawmaker Hari Narayan Prasad Rauniyar is the owner of Pappu Construction.
