PARBAT, July 13: The Parbat-Baglung section of the Mid-hill Highway remains obstructed for the past six days due to massive landslides.
The landslides that occurred in the area between Armadi and Nayapul of Kusma Municipality in the district on July 8 have obstructed the roadway.
Disrupted transportation along Pokhara-Baglung resumes
Although Lama Construction, the contractor for the road, has been trying to clear the debris, there are huge boulders impeding the progress. As the heavy equipment could not split the rocks, the district administration has sought the help of Nepal Army to use explosives to break the huge boulders. Nepal Army’s Kebaljung Company made two explosions on Monday, but even that could not break the huge boulders.
Traffic police chief of the district, Krishna Khadka, said that Nepal Army would continue its efforts to break the huge rock on Tuesday too. The torrential rainfall has also impeded the works.
Khadka, however, said that one-way traffic could be resumed by Tuesday evening if the rainfall stopped.
Hundreds of vehicles ply daily on the road. It is one of the busiest roads linked to Pokhara city as well. With the obstruction, alternative routes and the rural roads are being used for the time being. However, heavy vehicles are stranded in Baglung, Myagdi and Parbat districts.
