KATHMANDU, March 8: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the restoration of the House of Representatives has taken the country toward a fresh round of political instability.

Addressing a program organized to mark the International Women's Day in the capital on Monday, the prime minister said that it was a better option to hold midterm elections as scheduled by the government than reinstating parliament.

"Had parliament been not reinstated, the country would have been witnessing elections now and a new government would have been formed soon. The country would have witnessed a new political course. But some people did not want this because they just wanted to create anarchy. Now, it has become clear that the case against the dissolution of parliament was filed just for creating anarchy and instability," Oli said while expressing displeasure on the restoration of the parliament.

Referring to the demand of a rival faction leader during the parliament session on Sunday to clarify  which party he belongs to, Prime Minister Oli suggested Rawal to ask the same question to the Supreme Court. "If you want to know which party I belong to, please go to the apex court and ask there," the prime minister said in a satirical manner.

Earlier on Sunday, the apex court scrapped the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) registered in the name of KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, giving the party to little-known Rishi Kattel who had registered Nepal Communist Party at the Election Commission much before the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was registered in the names of Oli and Dahal in May 2018.
