KATHMANDU, June 14: A House Committee on Friday directed the government to take action against the Pappu Construction company that has been winning contracts of development projects despite having a reputation of delivering poor structures or leaving its projects incomplete.
A meeting of the Parliament's Development Committee held at Singha Durbar directed the government to take action against the Pappu Construction company.
The committee has pointed out that a bridge constructed by Pappu Construction over Bagmati River at Tinkune in Kathmandu was found substandard.
House committee concerned over new contracts to Pappu
Pappu Construction company was found violating the directives issued by the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project, according to the chairperson of the Parliament's Development Committee.
"The construction projects built by the Pappu Construction were found substandard while breaching the directives issued by the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project," she said.
The committee members had also inspected the construction site of a bridge at Tinkune.
After the inspection, the Valley Road Expansion Project had asked to resolve the problems before pushing forward the construction work. However, Pappu Construction Company continued to work in a fraud manner ignoring directives issued by the government authorities.
Also, the committee has suggested the government not to proceed ahead with the construction without proper design. Speaking at the meeting, Committee member Jip Chhiring Lama said that the bridge construction should not be delayed anymore.
