Parliamentary hearings of six candidates proposed for SC justices to begin on Friday

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: The Parliamentary Hearings Committee (PHC) has called a meeting on November 24 to proceed with the parliamentary hearings process of the High Court judges proposed for the vacant posts of Supreme Court (SC) justices.

On Tuesday, the Judicial Council (JC) proposed the names of six judges to fill the vacant posts of Supreme Court justices. The JC has sent a letter to the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday with the information that the names of six judges have been proposed to advance the necessary process of the parliamentary hearings.


According to JC Spokesperson Man Bahadur Karki, the JC meeting recommended High Court judges Saranga Subedi, Mahesh Sharma Paudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana and Abdul Azid Muslim for the appointment as SC justices. Similarly, legal practitioners Balkrishna Dhakal and Sunil Pokharel have also been recommended as SC justices.
