ILAM, May 21: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Senior Leader Jhalanath Khanal has assured that all the backlogs with regards to party unification process would be cleared by mid-June this year.
Sharing that it took a while to carry out the process at the lowest level, Khanal assured that works relating to it were expedited now. Khanal, who arrived here to administer the oath of secrecy to the NCP’s office-bearers at the district level, termed the unification between then CPN (UML) and CPN-Maoist (Centre) into the NCP a historic event.

According to him, although both parties were left-wing parties, they belonged to separate factions. Stating that merger would happen with anyone with similar ideologies and background, the former Prime Minister asserted that the unification process had not reached a dead end. Lamenting that ideologies, principles and philosophies were being eroded in the NCP, Khanal urged one and all not to forget the history and called upon the cadres to study and research the party’s history and its ideologies.
He viewed that the country had to bear the brunt of adverse consequences due to the division between the communist parties in the past. Similarly, Province-1 NCP In-Charge Bhim Acharya opined that the party unification process had been taking longer than a previously perceived timeline. Likewise, Province Deputy In-Charge Sabitri Prasad Kafle observed that the communist movement in the country had become a subject of international history.
