KATHMANDU, August 30: Senior leader of the newly-formed CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhala Nath Khanal has announced that he will not take any executive posts of the party.
Talking to media persons upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport following his treatment in New Delhi, India, nearly for two months, Khanal said that he does not have any moral rights to seek executive position since he has already crossed 70 years of age. “I do not have any moral rights to demand executive posts. I have already crossed 70 years,” said Khanal.

Stating that the communist party should not move towards split and division, Khanal alleged that the hubris of Chairman K P Oli had pushed the CPN-UML towards the rebellion within the party. “The rebellion is not split. Some may have an impression that this is the rebellion of only a few hundred people. But the revolution grows with hundreds, thousands and millions of people joining it later,” he further said.
Khanal also said that since the new lease of life he has received after kidney transplant is a life he got as a bonus he will devote his life for the cause of country, nationality and the communist movement till his last breath. “My life is now a life of a profit; life of a bonus. I will spend rest of my time for the cause of the country, nation, nationality and communist movement and the development of socialism,” he further said.
