KATHMANDU, August 6: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the move of the government to dissolve the Land Related Problems Resolution Commission.
The petition registered by advocate Prabesh KC demand that the government decision to dissolve the Commission be revoked. The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation are named as the defendants in the petition.

"The decision of the Cabinet, the Government of Nepal to scrap the Commission as per Article 133 (2) and (4) of the Constitution of Nepal should be annulled through a certiorari order," reads the petition. The petitioner has also asked the court to issue and it is asked to issue a mandamus asking the government to allow the Commission to function as per laws.
The KP Sharma Oli government had formed the Commission on 14 April, 2020 with the aim to manage accommodation of Dalits and landless squatters. A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday had decided to dissolve the Commission.
