Pillion rider killed in tipper-motorcycle collision

KATHMANDU, July 14: A teenager was killed while another sustained injuries in a tipper-motorcycle collision at Soaltee Mode in the capital on Saturday. The accident took place at 1:30 pm.

KATHMANDU, July 14: A teenager was killed while another sustained injuries in a tipper-motorcycle collision at Soaltee Mode in the capital on Saturday. The accident took place at 1:30 pm.


The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Anuja Ghimire of Chitwan, who was currently staying at Kupondole. She was riding pillion when the inciden took place.

"Ajuna, who was critically injured after being hit by the tipper, was rushed to Vayodha Hospital, Balkhu where she breathed her last in the course of treatment," said SP Surendra Mainali, spokesperson of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Kathmandu.


According to police, a tipper, Ba 7 Cha, 9475, heading to Kalanki from Kalimati hit the motorcycle, Ba 96 Pa 4911, which was moving in the same direction.


In the accident, motorcyclist Anuj Gimire, deceased’s elder brother, sustained minor injuries.


Police said they have taken driver Raj Kumar Tamang of  Chapagaun, Lalitpur, and the tipper under control and are investigating the case.
