PM Dahal urges transparency in aircraft procurement process

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has sternly advised the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation to execute the aircraft procurement process with utmost precision, steering clear of any errors or disputes.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has sternly advised the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation to execute the aircraft procurement process with utmost precision, steering clear of any errors or disputes.


This directive came during a joint briefing and discussion at Singha Durbar on Sunday, involving the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and  Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Water Supply.


Expressing concerns over past controversies surrounding aircraft purchases in Nepal, PM Dahal emphasized the need for a flawless and transparent procurement process this time.

He asserted, “The aircraft procurement process should be 100 percent accurate and transparent. Let’s ensure that no questions arise, and no mistakes are made this time.”


Additionally, PM Dahal expressed concerns over the issue of tourism-unfriendly policies, urging officials to contemplate creating a more comfortable environment for tourists.


He suggested the exploration of proposals to open prohibited areas, attracting tourists, and facilitating night services in tourist hotspots.


PM Dahal also stressed the government’s need to exhibit flexibility in implementing such changes.


The briefing was attended by Minister for Water Supply Mahendra Raya Yadav; Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti; Minister for State Sushila Sripali; Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Dr Baikuntha Aryal; Suresh Acharya, secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply; Culture Secretary Deepak Kafle; Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkar, and other officials.
