A conclusive decision will help to schedule date for the National Assembly election, appoint provincial heads and temporary capitals. The government withheld from its decisions to appoint the same after CPN-UML condemned its decision calling the current government a ‘caretaker’.
However, as the constitutional law requires the current government to fix provincial capitals, the current government, led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, is trying to forge consensus. While the Election Commission has been urging the government to appoint provincial heads and capitals, the PM is trying to find a way out by reaching political consensus.
