CHITWAN, Aug 2: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has told the concerned authorities to contact him directly if any government unit dilly dallies in finishing the work related to Mugling-Narayangadh road expansion.

PM Deuba, while inspecting the road section on Wednesday, called it the ‘lifeline’ of the country. PM Deuba along with this team examined 20 km of the road section from Ram Nagar to Gaglin, which is more than half the total length of the road that connects Kathmandu and Pokhara to the rest of the country. “If any government agency or unit delays in completing the work then contact me directly,” PM Deuba told the concerned officials.

The PM also issued a warning to the contractors and officials that he would not tolerate carelessness in the work.  “I will punish those who are careless in their work but I will reward them if the road section is finished on time,” he said.

As the festive season is approaching, the PM has urged the contractors to manage the road section before Dashain and Tihar since maximum number of vehicles ply the road during that period.

PM Deupa also instructed the concerned bodies to ensure security of workers and travelers as per the internationally accepted safety rules and regulations.

The prime minister also said that he would hold talks with the World Bank, the main donor agency, to solve any irregularities in the repair work of this road section.
