KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli is responsible for present crisis within the party.
Leader Nepal who is also the former prime minister accused PM Oli of failing in his responsibilities. He also called him to make sacrifices and accept his mistakes for the sake of party unity. Leader Nepal accused Oli of not following the party program and manifesto while leading the government and failing to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Core of our party leadership is Secretariat and we all are equal there. No one is above the party and party organization," leader Nepal told Nagarik Frontline on Wednesday evening, adding that the current crisis within the ruling NCP is not ideological one.
The statement of NCP's senior leader comes at a time when the intra-party feud within the NCP is at its peak.
Disgruntled leader Nepal to present ‘note of dissent’
Leader Nepal accused Prime Minister Oli of becoming individualistic. Recalling his meeting with PM Oli, the former prime minister said "Once he even warned of dissolving parliament," he revealed.
Leader Nepal said that Prime Minister Oli's unilateral decisions have invited a series of trouble within the party. "Even Chairman Oli does not want to discuss criticisms against him at the party Secretariat," he said.
He said that a political proposal tabled last month by another chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal should have been discussed at the party Secretariat, but they could not do so as Chairperson Oli strongly opposed to it. "Oli totally rejected the political paper tabled by Dahal calling it as an allegation paper. He even came up with a 32-page rebuttal. What a big irony?" leader Nepal said.
In another context, leader Nepal ruled out the possibility of the revival of monarchy in the country.
