KATHMANDU, August 20: Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal sent a request to register a new party at the Election Commission, stating that he was not given a place in the party by CPM-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.

However, the second generation leaders of the UML are trying to halt the split in the party and request Nepal to take his decision back. “We have urged  Chairperson KP Sharma Oli for the implementation of the 10-point deal which was reached on July 11 and Nepal to withdraw his request to form a new party,” lawmaker Bhim Acharya said. According to Acharya, the split in the party will not be justifiable if the 10-point deal for party unity is implemented.
