BUTWAL, Jan 12: CPN-UML Standing Committee member Shankar Pokharel has accused the government of taking the wrong path by bringing the constitution amendment bill instead of declaring the election date and implementing the constitution.

Addressing a press meet organized by Press Chautari Rupandehi Chapter here on Thursday, he said that the government has fomented conflict and thereby pushed the country towards peril by bringing the amendment bill through the ‘backdoor’. He added that the UML would prevent the amendment bill from being passed by parliament.

"The ruling parties, in the name of increasing wider acceptability of the constitution, have tried to appease 10 percent, while alienating 33 percent of the population. All should abide by the constitution and anyone flouting it should be brought to book," he said. RSS
