Police, APF finish group winners

KATHMANDU, June 28:The semifinal line-up of Yeti Flooring National Women Volleyball Tournament got completed as Nepal Police Club, Armed Police Force (APF) Club, New Diamond Academy and Western Region secured last four spots on Monday.


The event is being held at the covered hall of National Sports Council (NSC), Tripureshwar in Kathmandu.

Police, winning both matches, booked a berth in the semifinal as Group B winner, while APF finished as Group A winner. Similarly, New Diamond became Group B runner-up and Western secured last four spot as Group A runner-up.


On Monday, Police beat Tribhuvan Army Club on three straight sets, while APF also edged past Western and Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre in three straight sets.


Police took the first set comfortably by 25-15 but had to struggle in the second set to win it 25-22. However, Police won the third set 25-15 with ease.


Likewise, APF easily took all three sets against hapless Jawalakhel with a score of 25-14, 25-5, 25-4. Before that APF beat Western 25-8, 25-16, 25-15.  


In the semifinals, Police will play Western, while APF will meet New Diamond on Tuesday.
