Police, Army to vie for Pathivara Men’s Volleyball title

TAPLEJUNG, May 9: Departmental teams Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club will take on each other in the summit clash for the ongoing Third Pathivara Men’s National Volleyball Tournament in Taplejung on Wednesday.

TAPLEJUNG, May 9: Departmental teams Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club will take on each other in the summit clash for the ongoing Third Pathivara Men’s National Volleyball Tournament in Taplejung on Wednesday. 


At Sanghupati in Maiwakhola Rural Municipality, the defending champion Police defeated Gandaki Province in straight sets of 25-18, 26-24, 25-17 to advance into the final, while Army registered a brilliant 25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24 sets victory over Armed Police Force (APF) Club to join Police in the final. With the win, Army also kept its unbeaten run intact heading into the last game of the tournament.

The tournament, played as the regional level tournament for men’s volleyball, did not have any departmental teams in the first edition, when a team from Okhaldhunga had won the tournament. 

The final between Police and Army will see the former try to win the trophy for the second year running, while Army would be looking to win the title for the first time defeating the current champion. 


The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of Rs 350,500, while the runner-up will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 176,250. 


According to the tournament coordinator Diwas Chengwang, all the participating teams will get Rs 50,000 as encouragement money.
