Police arrest detainee who had escaped

KATHMANDU, March 12: Out of the six who had absconded from the custody of Mahendranagar  Area Police office, one more person has been arrested.


Spokesperson at District Police Office, Dhanusha, DSP Ved Prasad Gautam said that the arrested person is 36-year-old Shankar Mahato of Mithila Municipality-6.

Mahato, who was arrested in an arms and drug case, had escaped by breaking the wall of the police custody on the night of January 30.


According to the police, a police team from Madhesh Province Police Office, Janakpur, and District Police Office, Dhanusha, arrested Mahato on Saturday night when he was secretly going to India through the border crossing at Birgunj Metropolitan City-16, Inaruwa, Parsa.


On January 30, six detainees escaped after breaking the wall of the police custody room. Earlier, the police arrested four of them while one person is still absconding.
