Police arrest youth with 50 grams gold from TIA for evading tax

KATHMANDU, March 26:  Police arrested one person with 50 grams of gold from Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday morning.


Purushottam Sharma, 23, of Dhangadhimai Municipality-11, Siraha was arrested with 50 grams of gold brought by evading customs. A gold bracelet weighing 50 grams was recovered from his possession.

He was detained by the police from the international arrivals parking area of the airport.


According to the police, gold smugglers use passengers arriving in Nepal from foreign countries to bring gold by evading the customs. The police claimed that seized gold was also of the same nature.


Sharma has been sent to Airport Customs Office for further interrogation.
