OKHALDHUNGA, Aug 8: A police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl from Okhaldhunga on Thursday.
Constable Prakash Kumar Yadav, who is currently working at Shreechaur Police Station in Saptari, has been arrested on the charge of raping a local girl when she was cutting grass in the forest on Tuesday, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at District Police Office, Okhaldhunga Pushpa Raj Malla informed.

The incident came to the light after the girl’s father found his daughter being raped in the jungle. It is also said that Yadav had raped her in the same spot on July 18.
The girl said that Yadav threatened her not to disclose any information regarding the incident. According to the girl, Yadav had allured her of marrying her and settling in Kathmandu.
DSP Malla said that Yadav has been remanded into custody by District Court, Okhaldhunga.
"We have launched a further investigation into the alleged rape," he said. He said that Yadav will face a stringent action if he is found guilty in line with existing laws.
The victim's family members have demanded stern action against the perpetrator.
