Police focused on parliamentary polls: IGP Singh

KATHMANDU, August 18: Inspector General of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh has said that the entire police force is now focused on the November 20 parliamentary and provincial elections.

KATHMANDU, August 18: Inspector General of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh has said that the entire police force is now focused on the November 20 parliamentary and provincial elections. 


Nepal Police is working to ensure that the polls are held in an organized way and in a credible and fearless atmosphere, he said while talking to media-persons in Rajbiraj on Wednesday.

"The main goal of Nepal Police is to create an environment conducive for voters to cast their vote in an impartial and fearless way," IGP Singh said.


Singh also expected help from civil society and media-persons on the matter while emphasizing journalists' 'important role' in controlling and reducing all kinds of social evils through the media. 


Singh also sought help from them to control smuggling, black marketing and violence against women in Madhesh Province that has lately reported increasing cases of these crimes as compared to other provinces.
