Police headquarters forms ‘strong’ probe committee

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The police headquarters has formed yet another probe committee on Sunday to investigate the rape and murder case of Nirmala Pant.

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The police headquarters has formed yet another probe committee on Sunday to investigate the rape and murder case of Nirmala Pant.


The committee is led by DIG Dhiru Basnet who has been recommended for the post of AIG recently. The headquarters had previously formed the probe committee on Friday led by SSP Uttam Subedi to investigate the involvement of all six police officials who have been suspended for their alleged involvement in tampering the evidence of the case. Now both committees will work jointly to investigate the incident and the involvement of the police officers in manipulating the evidence, spokesperson SSP Shailesh Thapa Kshetri.

According to the ministry, a strong committee has been formed following the submission of the preliminary report by the joint secretary Hari Prasad Mainali led committee on Saturday. Meanwhile, all the police linked with the incident have been summoned to Kathmandu for the further inquiry.
