KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Nepal Police on Monday arrested one more Chinese man and three Nepalis on the charge of their involvement in Saturday night’s ATM heist in Kathmandu.
Xu Luc Li, 36, was arrested when he was about to board a Chinese aircraft at the Tribhuvan International Airport. The identity of three Nepali nationals being investigated for their alleged involvement in currency exchange has not been disclosed.

Xu’s arrest comes two days after police nabbed five Chinese men in connection with Nepal’s one of the biggest ATM robbery scams. The arrestees made public on Sunday afternoon have been identified as Lin Jianmeng, Luo Jialei, Zhu Liangang, Qiu Yunqing and Chen Bin Bin.
Police had seized 132 counterfeit Visa cards that were used to draw around Rs 16.7 million that had already been exchanged into US dollar, Chinese yuan, Cambodian riel and Hong Kong dollar.
Police are still trying to find out the modus operandi of the robbers who allegedly hacked data of various banks. Official involved in the investigation suspect that the arrestees are part of an organized crime racket.
“It is too early to say much because the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, but it is likely that they are part of a bigger racket. We would be able to tell more once the investigation concludes,’’ said Uttam Raj Subedi, the chief of Metropolitan Crime Range.
