Police open fire to nab two robbers in capital

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Police have arrested two persons on the charge of threatening Govinda Bahadur Khadka, the chief of Likhu rural municipality in Ramechhap, to pay them Rs 20 million as a donation.

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Police have arrested two persons on the charge of threatening Govinda Bahadur Khadka, the chief of Likhu rural municipality in Ramechhap, to pay them Rs 20 million as a donation.


Acting on Khadka's complaint, a team mobilized from Metropolitan Police Crime Division Kathmandu fired shots to nab Milan Lama aka Lopchan and Amrit Tamang at Bijayaeswori area in the capital on Friday morning.

Chief of Metropolitan Crime Division Sahadev Thapa told Republica Online that the police had to open fire on the duo after they tried to flee from the scene at Bijayaeswori area near Swayambhu.


Khadka had approached the police after the Lama group had threatened to kidnap his daughter if he did not pay Rs 20 million as the donation.  Arrested Lama has received two bullets below the knee.
