Police raid RJP central committee member Yadav's house in Sarlahi

SARLAHI, Jan 13: Police have raided a house belonging to Rastriya Janata Party central committee member Rambabu Raya Yadav at the Sitapur area of Barhathawa municipality-10 in the district.

SARLAHI, Jan 13: Police have raided a house belonging to Rastriya Janata Party central committee member Rambabu Raya Yadav at the Sitapur area of Barhathawa municipality-10 in the district.


A team of police conducted the raid on Monday as part of their investigation against Yadav for his alleged involvement in defrauding local people in multiple ways. He has been accused of lending money to local residents at an exorbitant interest rate. Yadav has faced usury charges and currently is in police custody following the complaints of local people.

"We seized some documents from his house today. The investigation is underway against him," Sarlahi District Police Chief Bishwamani Pokharel told Republica Online.


Earlier, police arrested Yadav from Haripur municipality on the charge of defrauding people. He was arrested after District Administration Office, Sarlahi extended his remand last week. 


The pressure was mounted on police to take action against Yadav after the victim met with Nepal Communist Party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', general secretary Bishnu Poudel, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and NCP spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha in Kathmandu.
