KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal on Sunday claimed that Nepal Police is working to come up with a program in line with the Community-Police Partnership Campaign in order to address the increasing violence against women and children in public vehicles.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed Civil Support Room at Metropolitan Police Range Office (MPRO), Teku, IGP Khanal claimed that the police are preparing to launch a campaign against such acts.
“We have given priority to the safety of women and children in public vehicles,” he said, adding, “In this regard, we are in the process of launching a campaign on violence against women and children in public vehicles.”

He claimed that the police are partnering with organizations working for the welfare of women and children for the program.
“We are holding talks with representatives of women organizations and networks working for the welfare of women in order to launch the program,” he said.
IGP Khanal claimed that the program will not just increase the level of safety but also help in the development of the nation.
According to Khanal, the support room which was constructed in line with the Community-Police Partnership Campaign will play an important role in providing the public with police services in a friendly environment. He said that police will be more successful to nab criminals, control financial crimes, human trafficking, and other crimes in the capital with the help of the civil society and other stakeholders.
The support room which was built with the financial assistance of Rs 1.95 million from Nepal Bangladesh Bank was handed to Nepal Police during the program.
