Power center shifts from Baluwatar to Balkot, parties other than NC discuss government formation

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Talks on government formation have started at the private residence of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at Balkot. Discussions that failed in Baluwatar are now going to involve other political parties and their leaders in Balkot.

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Talks on government formation have started at the private residence of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at Balkot. Discussions that failed in Baluwatar are now going to involve other political parties and their leaders in Balkot.


Chairman of the third largest party, Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other leaders, Chairman of the fourth largest party, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the fifth largest party Rastriya Prajatantra Party Rajendra Lingden, Ashok Rai from the Janata Samajwadi Party have reached Balkot for the discussions.

These parties have gathered in Balkot to discuss the formation of a new government after the ruling coalition parties could not agree on a power-sharing deal. After agreeing on the distribution of power and important posts, these parties will reach the President's Office to form the government.


President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given a deadline of 5 o'clock this evening and has invited the political parties to stake claim to the leadership of the government with a majority.
