KATHMANDU, April 6: The ruling coalition parties have reached consensus on the government’s common minimum program (CMP). Dev Prasad Gurung, general secretary of CPN (Maoist Center), said that the ruling parties held orientation on the common policies and programs of the government in the meeting of the ruling alliance held at the Prime Minister's Residence, Baluwatar, earlier today.
"Democracy, nationalism, issues related to people's livelihood and good governance have been agreed upon," he said to mediapersons after the meeting, "It is scheduled to be made public today at 5 o'clock." He said that there was a theoretical discussion on the minimum common program of the government between the parties involved in the coalition.
Ruling alliance fails to reach agreement on cabinet expansion
"The parties have basically agreed on how to formulate the government’s policies and programs. If there are some small suggestions, they will be included by this evening and the document will be made public at 5 o'clock," he said. After the election of the President, with the change in the ruling coalition, the parties affiliated to the coalition are working to create a minimum common program.
In the meeting, Prime Minister and Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman of Nagarik Unmukti Party and Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Ranjita Shrestha, Leader of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari were also present.
