PANCHTHAR, March 30: A ward member of Falelung Rural Municipality-6 has been arrested on the charge of raping and impregnating a woman.
A month ago, after an unsuccessful attempt by ward member Kamal Gurung, 30, to 'settle' the case with the victim, the victim, who is now pregnant has filed a cimplaint with the police charging Gurung of raping her.
Gurung was elected as ward member on CPN-UML ticket in the last year's local elections. The incident had happened reportedly on November 19 during an election campaign. At first the woman asked Gurung to own the baby in her womb.
