Priest in Palpa suspended following sexual abuse allegations

BUTWAL, June 30: The chief priest of the Bhairavnath Temple in Palpa has been suspended following accusations of sexual abuse.


Jeetnath Yogi, a 70-year-old head priest of the temple in Ribdikot Rural Municipality of Palpa, has been suspended due to allegations of sexually abusing women who visited the temple for worship.

Following revelation of sexual abuse of female pilgrims by priest Yogi, chair of the Temple Management Committee, Govinda Bahadur Pokharel announced that he had been suspended.


The committee also said such actions will not be tolerated.


Yogi is facing accusations of molesting women who visited the temple by inappropriately touching while offering prasad.
