KATHMANDU, September 1: The ongoing prohibitory order in the Kathmandu valley has been extended once again but has been eased upto some extent. A meeting among the three chief district officers (CDOs) of the valley made the decision today to extend the prohibitory order till September 16, allowing the running of businesses and industries by following strict health and safety protocols.

According to Kali Prasad Parajuli, CDO of Kathmandu, the decision to allow the resumption of education institutions inside the valley has been handed over to the local governments with the approval of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (DCCMC). However, decisions have been made to prohibit the resumption of physical classes for children below the age of 18 and those who have not received vaccines against COVID-19.

Although the risk of COVID-19 has decreased than before, Parajuli has appealed to the public to celebrate festivals only for formality and to avoid large gatherings.

Furthermore, businesses and industries have been warned to follow health protocols strictly as the administration office will conduct surprise inspections to see if the safety protocols are being followed or not. People will not be allowed to attend large gatherings for conference meetings, protests, festivals or parties, Parajuli informed Republica.
