Province 5 set to unveil Rs 30 billion fiscal budget

BUTWAL, June 15: The government of Province 5 is all set to introduce an annual budget of around Rs 30 billion, according to officials. Roads, irrigation, drinking water along with other development work would receive priority, informed Prakash Shrestha, vice-chairman of the Provincial Planning Commission.

BUTWAL, June 15: The government of Province 5 is all set to introduce an annual budget of around Rs 30 billion, according to officials. Roads, irrigation, drinking water along with other development work would receive priority, informed Prakash Shrestha, vice-chairman of the Provincial Planning Commission. The budget's special focus will be on agriculture, tourism, education and healthcare, according to Shrestha.

According to the provincial finance ministry, micro-hydropower development and industrial development would be other priorities in the budget. Sources at the ministry informed that big projects would also be launched in the province in coordination with the federal government.


Likewise, a new highway connecting Palpa with Rukum and other feeder roads connecting local units have been given included in the budget. The province also plans to develop the local units in backward areas as model local units.Similarly, development of hill stations, setting up cultural museum and tourism corridor connecting Lumbini with Bardiaya National Park and feasibility study for mono rail have also been planned in the budget, according to the ministry.
