JANAKPUR, Sept 9: Dilip Kumar Sah, a member of Province 2 assembly, is to face suspension for polygamy. His suspension follows a suggestion by the Office of Chief Attorney to the Speaker of the provincial assembly to suspend lawmaker Sah for polygamy, citing the high court's recent verdict.
In June this year, the High Court upheld Dhanusha District Court's verdict. But his suspension was delayed as the provincial assembly remained undecided about implementing the verdict for months.

On Sunday, the Office of Chief Attorney of the province asked the provincial assembly to suspend lawmaker Sah without further delay.
In June 2015, Dhanusha District Court had convicted Sah of polygamy. But the police were unable to arrest him for polygamy as he was quick to move to the High Court to challenge the district court's decision.
Lawmaker Sah had emerged stronger in regional politics after he was elected provincial member from Siraha-4 (a) representing the Nepal Communist Party in 2017's provincial assembly elections.
Sah, however, said he will move the Supreme Court. “I had already allotted property to her after she agreed to live separately. Then, I married my second wife,” said Sah, “But the case was filed at the court to victimize me, against the previous agreement. Justice has been denied in my case.”
