BHAKTAPUR, May 2: At a time when most of the reconstruction works have been hit by delays, a school in Bhaktapur district took just three months to be fully constructed. Moreover, the building is quake-resilient.
The newly constructed two-storey building of Everest English School is spread over nearly half ropanis of land. It has ten rooms and the building has already come into operation.
School unable to use new building due to wage dispute
Bhakta Rajbhandari, the school principal, said that the building has been constructed with reinforced concrete cement (RCC) foundation, steel pillar and precast concrete to substitute bricks. Precast technology was used to construct the building in a short period of time.
“As we are in need of more classrooms for the new academic session, we are very happy to have the building constructed in such a short period,” said the principal.
“The general public has a wrong mindset thinking that construction of building with precast technology is not strong and durable. We used this technology due to its proven success in neighboring China,” said Principal Rajbhandari. “China constructed 57-storey building in just 19 days with the use of this technology. I see potential in this technology to contribute to reconstruction works of our quake-ravaged country.”
