KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Rainfall is expected to continue across the country today with the monsoon wind having nationwide influence, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).
Light to moderate rainfall is taking place at some places of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. According to the DHM, it will be generally cloudy throughout the country this afternoon.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and at a few places of Madhesh province.
Rain likely from today
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Stating that torrential rain is likely to occur at one or two places of Koshi, Sudurpaschim, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, the DHM has urged all concerned to remain alert.
Likewise, the DHM has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather across the country tonight. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and at a few places of the rest of the provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at most places of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces during the next 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
In view of possible torrential rain in one or two places of the Sudurpaschim province, the DHM has urged the people to remain cautious to the risks posed by the landslide and flood in the areas.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has recorded 73 mm rainfall in Kathmandu in the last 24 hours. According to the Department, Dharan received the highest rainfall of 104 mm, Okhaldhunga 85 mm, Biratnagar 80 mm, Janakpur 74 mm, Jiri 46 mm, Pokhara 30 mm, Bhairahawa 26 mm, Pokhara and Simara 21 mm.
