KATHMANDU, Aug 5: The member of presidium and lawmaker of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal Rajendra Mahato has criticized the government's decision to cancel the citizenship of a person having the similar name of him without clarifying the address.

His reaction comes a day after Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Baskota, on Sunday, had informed that the cabinet had decided to cancel the citizenship of eight individuals including ‘Rajendra Mahato’ without giving further details of those people.

Speaking at the parliament on Monday, he questioned the government’ “I heard that the government has scrapped the citizenship of eight people including Rajendra Mahato. Who is this Rajendra Mahato? It is the government who needs to clarify against which Rajendra Mahato it has taken action.”

He accused the government of spreading rumor against him and demanded an apology from the government for defaming him.

He also criticized the media for publishing the news promptly and added “The government should come up with its clear stance on the issue and should apologize for defaming my name. “
