KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Uma Shankar Raybhar has been released by depositing the bail amount of Rs 25,000 as per the order of the Supreme Court on Sunday. A Joint Bench of Justices Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha and Sapana Pradhan Malla had issued the order to release Raybhar on Friday.
Raybhar was accused of evading the tax amount of Rs 280 million for his citizenship was misused by others.
Raybhar, who was in Nakkhu jail since last March for his inability to deposit the bail amount of Rs 7.5 million imposed by the High Court, Patan was freed on Sunday.

The Supreme Court invalidated the Patan High Court's decision, reasoning that Raybhar had no direct involvement at all on evasion of tax, but another Rajesh Kumar Mishra took advantage in the name of Raybhar.
In the decision, the Supreme Court also cited the financial condition of Raybhar and the stress he suffered due to accusation.
Raybhar, who has an ordinary economic status and only primary education, had been staying in a house made in an unregistered land of Parwanipur-1 of Bara. But, he was accused of evading tax of some Rs 280 million and jailed for it.
Actually, he was duped by another by misusing his personal documents as citizenship certificate, photo and signatures. The one misusing his document set up a company and evaded the tax.
