Recovery underway for DPM Shrestha after heart attack

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who suffered a heart attack during his visit to China on October 18, is showing signs of improvement. He is currently undergoing treatment at Peking Medical College Hospital in Beijing.

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who suffered a heart attack during his visit to China on October 18, is showing signs of improvement. He is currently undergoing treatment at Peking Medical College Hospital in Beijing.


According to his personal secretary, Suresh Kaji Shrestha, the Deputy Prime Minister has made significant progress, as he has resumed normal walking since Saturday morning after the heart attack. Medical professionals placed a stent in his chest to address the cardiac issue.

Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha's Chinese counterpart and China's Public Security Minister, Wang Xiaohong, visited him at the hospital to convey wishes for a swift recovery. Minister Wang had previously emphasized the utmost dedication to Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha's health treatment.


Peng Xiu San, the Director of the Central International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, also met with Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha to extend well wishes for his full recovery. Additionally, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a representative to convey his best wishes for Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha's health.


The Deputy Prime Minister fell ill while in Beijing to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BFR).
