“If I am ousted, I’ll emerge victorious with a two-thirds majority in the next election”

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of an industrial estate in his home district, Jhapa on Sunday, PM Oli challenged Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal to remove him from the post of prime minister after they [Dahal-Nepal] ‘succeeded’ in restoring the House of Representatives (HoR). Oli’s December 20 decision of dissolving the lower house of parliament was overturned by the Supreme Court on February 23.

“KP Oli is still the parliamentary party leader of the NCP. He is the party chairman as well as the prime minister,” PM Oli said, adding “ If you have restored parliament, remove KP Oli from the prime ministerial post.”

He challenged the rival faction led by Dahal and Nepal to table a vote of no confidence motion and endorse that. “Remove me if you can. If I am ousted, I’ll emerge victorious with a two-thirds majority in the next election,” he challenged Dahal and Nepal who have been expediting homeworks to garner support from Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi parties in an apparent bid to oust Oli from power.

Ruling NCP suffered a vertical split following Oli’s decision to dissolve the HoR. The rival faction led by Dahal and Nepal took to the streets expressing a strong difference against the dissolution while the Oli-led faction kept on defending the move.
