KATHMANDU, Dec 18: The rival faction within the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has warned of taking further action against Prime Minister K P Oli if the latter did not withdraw the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council.
Addressing a meeting of the Province 1 District Chapter Presidents and Secretaries close to the rival faction within the NCP in Kathmandu on Friday, Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who leads the rival faction in the party, said that they will be forced to take further action against Prime Minister Oli if he failed to honor the understanding reached earlier on Wednesday.

The gathering had concluded that Prime Minister Oli had breached the party’s decision-making process and the existing process. The further actions may include dismissing the party’s parliamentary leader K P Oli from the post to introducing a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Oli once the House session is summoned.
Addressing the gathering, Executive Chairman Dahal had said that they were not trying to restrict Oli, but trying to control his arbitrary way of taking decisions. Dahal argued that it was necessary for the party to check the wrong-doings of the prime minister. Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal also attended the meeting.
On occasion, Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal asked Chairman Oli to abide by the decision of the party or face action. They defended the rival faction's political paper that Oli described as an allegation paper as the paper that correctly highlights the tendency that the prime minister had shown lately.
The rival faction that includes senior leader Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Bam Dev Gautam, and Narayan Kaji Shrestha has grown suspicious after Prime Minister Oli did not withdraw the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council meeting as per the understanding reached between the two sides on Wednesday. There was an understanding to withdraw the ordinance on the part of the prime minister and the political paper on the part of Dahal.
Although the political paper presented earlier by Dahal was not discussed during the Standing Committee meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli did not show any sign of withdrawing the ordinance during the cabinet meeting held on Thursday. This has made the rival faction within his party apprehensive of the intention of Prime Minister Oli, leaving them to organize a gathering of district-level leaders close to them and receiving their opinions.
