KATHMANDU, April 9: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) staged a demonstration in Kathmandu today against the republic system. The party leaders and cadres gathered at Bhrikutimandap, and marched through various parts of the city.
The demonstration turned violent, resulting in clashes between RPP protesters and the police. During the confrontation, the police deployed water cannons and batons, while the protesters hurled stones at the police.

Tensions escalated when the police attempted to stop the RPP cadres from advancing into restricted areas. Initially, water cannons were used to disperse the crowd. However, as the protesters persisted, the police resorted to baton-charging.
Under the slogan 'Let's change the system to change the situation,' led by RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden, the demonstration is underway in Kathmandu in order to pressurize the fulfillment of the 40-point demands submitted to the government. These demands include the abolition of the republic system, reinstating the monarchy, ending secularism, and declaring Nepal as a Hindu nation.
