Speaking on the occasion, NC leader Singh said it was an attack against democracy to target NC leaders and cadres involved in an election campaign. He lauded Katuwal for contributing to consolidate democratic exercise despite the fact that she herself was targeted.

A vehicle carrying NC candidate Narayan Bahadur Karki, student leader Katuwal and other NC cadres was targeted by Biplab-led Maoist cadre in Danuwarbesi area of Updayapurgadhi Rural Municipality-6 in Udayapur district on November 29, 2017 on the eve of the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.

“It is not good to always run for power. NC can move ahead only through the politics based on democratic norms and values,” he said, while adding that there is no alternative to the democratic process to bring transformation in the society.

On the occasion, NC leader Singh also said that the party's election committee should be formed based on the consensus reached during the Mahasamiti meeting.

Injured Katuwal thanked all friends and well-wishers who extended her help during her difficult time. “Although I had to lose my leg, I will always be working in favor of the party and the people of the country,” she said.
